Residence Expands Creative Network with Acquisition of GateMaker

The creative network Residence has acquired GateMaker, an influencer marketing agency, to bolster its influence in a creator economy projected to reach $1 trillion by 2033. This move integrates GateMaker’s expertise in paid and organic creator partnerships into Residence’s growing portfolio of independent creative firms.

Residence Expands Creative Network with Acquisition of GateMaker

Founded in 2021, GateMaker built its reputation by prioritizing community-led brand identity over traditional centralized media. The agency, which maintains a 98% female, fully remote team, manages influencer programs for major brands including Estée Lauder, Starbucks, and Glossier. By joining Residence, GateMaker retains its independent brand identity and operational structure while gaining access to the network’s shared resources and cross-company collaboration opportunities.

Ryan Honey, CEO of Residence, cited the agency's discipline and proven impact as primary drivers for the partnership. GateMaker co-founders Ashton Wall and Amelia Soohoo noted that the alignment of values regarding creative autonomy and culture was essential to the deal. This acquisition follows other recent expansions within the Residence network, including the purchase of social-first agency OK COOL and the rebranding of VTProDesign to ACRONYM. Together, these entities provide Residence with an end-to-end suite of social media and influencer marketing capabilities. PALAZZO and Jones & Spross served as advisors for the transaction, the financial terms of which remain undisclosed.
