Over 70 Firms to Field Test Defense Tech at BlueTIDE 2026

Seventy maritime and defense firms will gather at Sail Newport on August 27 for the third annual BlueTIDE, an event designed to accelerate the transition of emerging technology from laboratory prototypes to active government and commercial deployment through live, mission-driven demonstrations.

Over 70 Firms to Field Test Defense Tech at BlueTIDE 2026

The event’s centerpiece, Showcase Alley, hosts a diverse roster of innovators ranging from robotics specialists like Gander Robotics and Tethys Robotics AG to maritime data firms such as MarineLabs Data Systems. These organizations face a rigorous selection process, ensuring the hardware and software on display offer tangible solutions to real-world defense and maritime challenges. Beyond static exhibits, participants will engage in one-on-one office hours with Department of Defense representatives and industry stakeholders.

Matt Watson, Center Director for Polaris Tech Bridge, views this direct interaction as the primary driver for innovation. By placing technologies in a collaborative maritime environment, the event forces systems to perform under conditions that mimic operational reality. The day concludes with technical awards, where evaluators from the Navy and private sector will recognize the most promising solutions currently bridging the gap between concept and mission impact.
