Exostar and Fujitsu Partner to Secure Japan’s Defense Supply Chain

The new service utilizes Exostar’s Managed on Microsoft 365 technology to create a secure enclave specifically for Japan's defense and infrastructure sectors. By integrating centralized identity management, multi-factor authentication, and audit-ready logging, the platform ensures that sensitive information remains contained within a protected digital perimeter. This architecture allows organizations to inherit technical security controls while meeting the specific data-residency requirements mandated by the Japanese government.

This initiative bridges the gap between different regulatory landscapes, specifically aligning Japan’s ATLA requirements and the 2022 Economic Security Promotion Act with the U.S. Department of Defense's CMMC framework. By housing these operations on ISMAP-registered infrastructure, the partnership provides a localized solution that satisfies global security expectations. Stuart Wilson, Senior Vice President at Exostar, noted that the move reflects a broader necessity for multinational programs to maintain secure collaboration without sacrificing operational efficiency or violating cross-border data policies. Building on a collaborative relationship that began in 2019, the firms are now scaling these protections to a wider network of suppliers facing increasingly complex digital threats.
