Cliffwater Recruits GIC Veteran Sam Walsh for Real Assets Expansion

Walsh transitions to the firm after a tenure as Senior Vice President of Americas Real Estate at GIC, where he oversaw investment strategies across both equity and credit markets. His background includes leadership roles in North American multifamily and retail sectors, providing him with the institutional experience required to manage complex property portfolios and partnership structures.

Blake Nesbitt, Cliffwater’s Chief Investment Officer, emphasized that Walsh’s track record in large-scale capital allocation will be critical as the company grows the Cascade Real Assets Fund. Walsh joins a team recently bolstered by the appointments of Ryan Madani as Managing Director and Sean Brenan as Head of Real Estate and Portfolio Manager. These additions leverage Cliffwater’s broader platform, which has deployed $136 billion in private markets since its inception in 2004.
