Despite the dip in total revenue, Yalla saw growth in its gaming division, with segment revenue rising to US$34.2 million. Founder and CEO Tao Yang noted that the company’s flagship products maintained momentum, contributing to a 12.3% year-over-year increase in average monthly active users, which reached 47.6 million.
Profitability metrics remained robust, with a non-GAAP net income of US$34.4 million and a 41.7% non-GAAP net margin. This performance was achieved even as the company more than doubled its selling and marketing expenses to US$17.8 million, an aggressive push to bolster user acquisition and promote new self-developed titles. Yalla continues to diversify its portfolio, expanding its pipeline of casual and social-oriented gaming applications to hedge against regional volatility while maintaining a healthy cash position of US$824.2 million.
