The scholarship, established by the family and friends of Shannon Kelly Kane, supports students nominated for the NAfME Collegiate Professional Achievement Recognition. NAfME President Cecil Adderley highlighted the recipients for their distinct contributions: Hacker for his extensive advocacy at both state and national levels, and Moreno for his success in revitalizing chapter engagement and membership growth.

At the University of Indianapolis, Hacker served as the Senior Collegiate Representative for the Indiana Music Education Association. His work included lobbying state lawmakers regarding arts curriculum requirements and facilitating inclusive music programs for diverse learners. Meanwhile, Moreno transformed the University of Mount Union’s chapter by implementing a new constitution, establishing sustainable fundraising strategies like the “Maestro for a Minute” event, and expanding professional development opportunities for his peers.
