The project, a collaboration between The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) and Wong Fu Productions, arrives as public awareness of AAPI history remains fragmented. According to the 2026 STAATUS Index, over half of U.S. adults are unable to identify a single major moment in Asian American history, a gap this series aims to bridge by pairing industry pioneers with contemporary storytellers.
Featured subjects include YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, USB inventor Ajay Bhatt, and NBA champion Jeremy Lin, among others. Beyond the digital series, TAAF is launching a storytelling initiative that invites creators to submit pitches about significant AAPI figures or movements. Finalists will receive mentorship and awards of up to $10,000 to produce short-form content. TAAF CEO Norman Chen emphasized that these narratives are not peripheral, but central to the American experience. Episodes will be released throughout 2026 across social media platforms, accompanied by community-focused collaborations like a limited-edition apparel release with the brand Nostalgia.
