To navigate the holiday safely, the foundation recommends a disciplined approach to vessel management. Before departure, conduct thorough inspections and verify that all communication devices, including VHF radios and emergency beacons, are functional. Operators must utilize their Emergency Cut-Off Switch and maintain a filed float plan shared with emergency contacts. When gathering in popular areas, maintain idle speeds, utilize designated observers to scan for swimmers, and ensure that larger vessels anchor first to stabilize group tie-offs.
