The project will fundamentally reshape the campus by adding specialized surgical support areas, including expanded pre-operative and recovery capacity. A new cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab will anchor the facility’s increased clinical capabilities, while a dedicated parking garage is slated to open ahead of the main tower to improve site access. The hospital has also reserved flexible space within the design to accommodate future bed growth as regional demand evolves.
During a community discussion held on June 18, hospital leaders and local officials emphasized that the project is a response to the shifting healthcare needs of Central Hillsborough County. AdventHealth Carrollwood President and CEO Joe Johnson noted that bringing high-acuity services closer to home remains the primary objective of the investment. While construction is set to begin shortly, the new patient tower is not projected to open its doors to the public until 2029.
