Horizon Petroleum Adds Industry Veteran John D. Wright to Board

Wright arrives at Horizon with a resume spanning leadership roles at Alvopetro Energy, Grounded Lithium, and Touchstone Exploration. His career, which began as a petroleum engineer in 1981, includes significant tenures as president and CEO of Petrominerales, Lightstream Resources, and Pacalta Resources. Horizon CEO Dr. David Winter noted that the appointment is intended to bolster the company’s ongoing European gas acquisition strategy, specifically targeting natural gas development in Poland.

Beyond his operational background, Wright brings expertise in corporate governance and capital markets—skills the board intends to leverage as they scale their production business. While Liang is stepping down from his director position for personal reasons, the company confirmed he will maintain his connection to the firm through his advisory role, focusing on investor outreach in Asia. Wright expressed confidence in the company’s trajectory, citing the potential to build a sustainable energy producer that contributes to regional energy independence.
