Tech Mahindra and Viam Partner to Scale Industrial Robotics

The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between fragmented legacy systems and modern, scalable robotics. By integrating Viam’s hardware-agnostic platform into its service offerings, Tech Mahindra intends to streamline how manufacturing and logistics firms deploy physical AI. The platform provides a unified software layer, allowing companies to treat robotic fleets with the same visibility and remote management capabilities typically reserved for IT infrastructure.

Manikantan N S, Global Delivery Head of the Manufacturing Service Line at Tech Mahindra, noted that scaling robotics in complex environments often stalls due to integration hurdles and the lack of real-time fleet visibility. This partnership seeks to resolve those friction points by combining Tech Mahindra’s engineering depth with Viam’s software-defined architecture. The initiative includes comprehensive training programs for Tech Mahindra engineers to ensure they can effectively deploy, maintain, and update robotic systems remotely.

For Viam, founded by MongoDB co-founder Eliot Horowitz, the deal represents a significant step in moving physical AI from experimental demos to production-grade industrial utility. Clients will gain access to tools for predictive maintenance and over-the-air software updates, ensuring that automated systems remain resilient and productive. As industries face increasing pressure to modernize, the push toward software-defined hardware is becoming a central strategy for maintaining operational agility.
