CNCF and Linux Foundation Partner with Udemy to Streamline Certification

With global tech talent shortages hitting AI and cloud infrastructure hard, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and Linux Foundation Education are launching a unified training and certification path on Udemy, allowing developers to bundle coursework with performance-based exams like CKA and the new CNPE in a single transaction.

CNCF and Linux Foundation Partner with Udemy to Streamline Certification

The collaboration aims to address the widening skills gap identified in the 2026 State of Tech Talent Report, which highlights critical deficits in platform engineering and cloud computing. By integrating industry-recognized certifications directly into the Udemy ecosystem, the partnership seeks to remove administrative friction that often hinders professional development. Candidates can now access training tracks for the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), and the Cloud Native Platform Engineer (CNPE) credentials through a continuous, streamlined journey. Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of CNCF, noted that scaling cloud native infrastructure is limited not by technology, but by the availability of talent capable of managing it in production environments. The move is designed to make performance-based validation—which requires solving real-world problems in live settings—more accessible to the global developer community. By aligning Udemy’s practical learning modules with the Linux Foundation’s rigorous certification standards, the organizations hope to provide a clearer trajectory for engineers looking to prove their expertise to employers. The bundles are available immediately, offering a direct route from foundational lessons to final certification.
