Paralympic fencing icon Bebe Vio and veteran commentator Fabio Caressa are set to headline the 30th Fair Play Menarini International Award. The ceremony, scheduled for July 2 at Florence’s Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, recognizes figures who elevate sports through both personal resilience and the power of storytelling.

The duo joins a diverse roster of honorees, including Armand Duplantis, Gianfranco Zola, and Gregorio Paltrinieri. Bebe Vio, celebrated for her foil titles and advocacy through the art4sport Foundation, continues to define Paralympic excellence, while Caressa will receive the Franco Lauro Special Award for his decades of emotive sports broadcasting. The foundation board noted that these appointments reflect the core pillars of the award: the courage to overcome physical barriers and the talent to translate athletic intensity into a shared cultural experience.

Beyond individual accolades, the event also spotlights the intersection of academic and athletic discipline. The Fair Play Menarini Special Fiamme Gialle “Study and Sport” Award, presented in collaboration with CONI Tuscany and the Guardia di Finanza, honored beach sprint rower Azzurra Severini. By recognizing Severini alongside finalists Tancredi Mancuso and Letizia Gioffredi, the organizers emphasize a commitment to supporting the next generation of dual-career athletes who balance high-level competition with rigorous education.
