The pair joins an already robust roster of 2026 honorees, including Armand Duplantis, Gianfranco Zola, and Gregorio Paltrinieri. Vio, recognized for her transformative impact on Paralympic sport and her work with the art4sport Foundation, continues to serve as an international symbol of perseverance. Meanwhile, Caressa is set to receive the Franco Lauro Special Award, titled "Narrating Emotions," for his decades-long career in bringing Italian sporting history to life.

Beyond celebrating established stars, the foundation used the Florence press conference to highlight the next generation. The Fair Play Menarini Special Fiamme Gialle "Study and Sport" Award, which rewards the integration of athletic rigor and academic achievement, was presented to beach sprint rower Azzurra Severini, alongside finalists Tancredi Mancuso and Letizia Gioffredi. Foundation board members Luca Lastrucci, Valeria Speroni Cardi, and Filippo Paganelli noted that the selection reflects a dual commitment to honoring those who inspire through deeds and those who bridge the gap between performance and public connection.
