Launched in 2025, the publication functions as a future farmer's almanac, prioritizing optimistic visions of ecological regeneration over the typical collapse narratives found in contemporary climate fiction. Through original art and prose, the magazine charts potential paths for food systems and community resilience, grounding its speculative work in actual science and cultural development.
Duke Stump, Chief Brand Officer at Tractor Beverage Company, characterizes the project as an extension of the optimism required in farming. According to co-founders and editors Lana Z Porter and Claire Gustavson, the goal is to shift the narrative away from extraction toward a model where soil serves as the primary foundation for worldbuilding. Since its inception, the publication has featured work from over 50 contributors, including notable authors such as Jeff VanderMeer and Leah Thomas. The accolade will be highlighted in the upcoming Summer 2026 print edition of Fast Company.
