The CIRRUS-HCM trial followed 53 patients, split between the obstructive and nonobstructive forms of the condition. Researchers observed that EDG-7500, a cardiac sarcomere modulator, helped improve heart relaxation and diastolic function without compromising the heart's pumping ability. Among those with the obstructive form, 74% achieved a significant reduction in NT-proBNP levels, a primary biomarker for heart failure, while 70% reported an improvement in their functional status.
Results were similarly encouraging for patients with the nonobstructive form of the disease, who represent a group with historically limited treatment options. Participants saw an average 65% reduction in NT-proBNP levels and significant improvements in diastolic markers. Safety data remained stable across the cohort, with no new safety signals identified and no instances of left ventricular ejection fraction dropping below 50%. Edgewise Therapeutics expects to initiate the final stage of clinical development in the fourth quarter of 2026.
