The proposed double-circuit, 230-kilovolt line will connect the Clarington Transformer Station to the Dobbin Transformer Station. Beyond physical infrastructure, the project features a significant partnership model, granting proximate First Nations the opportunity to acquire a 50 per cent equity stake in the transmission line. Hydro One and its Indigenous partners intend to collaborate throughout the planning and development phases.
Ryan Docherty, Executive Vice President of Capital Portfolio Delivery, emphasized that the investment addresses aging infrastructure and severe weather vulnerabilities. The application, filed under Section 92 of the Ontario Energy Board Act, provides provincial regulators with the technical design, route mapping, and financial framework required for approval. Once operational, the line is expected to support regional growth in Peterborough, Quinte West, and the Ottawa area.
