The flagship NW-WM1ZM3 features a precision-machined, gold-plated oxygen-free copper chassis, designed to provide a stable ground connection for improved bass and soundstage depth. Sony has upgraded the internal power supply across the WM1 series, replacing previous single large solid high-polymer capacitors with a dual configuration to reduce interference. The hardware is further bolstered by thick KIMBER KABLE wiring, intended to preserve signal integrity and reduce noise.
All three models utilize Sony’s S-Master HX digital amplifier technology and a DSD Remastering Engine, which upscales PCM audio to 11.2MHz. The mid-range NW-ZX900 adopts many of these premium internal components, including high-end crystal oscillators, while maintaining a more compact profile. Battery performance has been tuned for extended listening, with the ZX900 offering up to 40 hours of MP3 playback. Sony has also removed plastic from the packaging materials for this release, aligning with updated corporate environmental standards. The devices are available for pre-order, with the flagship NW-WM1ZM3 priced at $5,899, the NW-WM1AM3 at $2,999.99, and the NW-ZX900 at $1,899.99.
