GoDaddy Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Deceptive Pricing

A 14.28% plunge in GoDaddy's share price has triggered a securities fraud class action in the Southern District of New York. Investors allege the company misled them by promoting a focus on high-value customer acquisition while simultaneously deploying aggressive, low-cost domain discounts that undermined its stated growth strategy.

GoDaddy Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Deceptive Pricing

The lawsuit, Johnson v. GoDaddy Inc. et al., claims the firm violated the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by misrepresenting its go-to-market approach. While GoDaddy publicly maintained it had abandoned front-end discounting, the complaint asserts the company secretly introduced a $4.99 promotional offer for one-year dotcom domain contracts. This tactic allegedly prioritized short-term volume over the high-intent, long-term customer base promised to shareholders.

The discrepancy became public on February 24, 2026, when the company revealed that Q4 bookings growth had decelerated to 5%, significantly trailing the previous quarter’s 9% growth. Management admitted that the promotional pricing shifted the term mix toward lower-value contracts, directly impacting near-term revenue. This disclosure erased $13.18 from the stock price in a single day, dropping it to $79.12. Investors now have until October 26, 2026, to apply for lead plaintiff status in the litigation brought by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP.
