Vuzix Debuts Causeway Optical Platform for AI Data Center Connectivity

With the capacity to route 19,200 parallel optical pathways through a single compact substrate, Vuzix is positioning its new Causeway platform to address the mounting data density challenges in modern AI infrastructure. The company is now offering evaluation units to industry partners ahead of the OCP Global Summit.

Vuzix Debuts Causeway Optical Platform for AI Data Center Connectivity

The Causeway platform leverages proprietary waveguide technology to facilitate high-density connectivity for co-packaged and near-package optics. By routing thousands of pathways across a 30 mm path, the technology aims to support multi-terabit aggregate bandwidth in future AI computing environments. Vuzix is tailoring these waveguide structures to integrate with various light sources, including microLED and VCSEL, providing a flexible architecture for custom design needs.

Qualified partners can now access evaluation kits to assess critical performance metrics such as optical loss, crosstalk, and channel alignment. Vuzix President and CEO Paul Travers stated that the initiative draws on the company’s two decades of experience in high-precision nanoimprint replication and waveguide development. The company intends to transition these evaluations into custom manufacturing projects at its Rochester, New York facility. Vuzix will conduct demonstrations and meetings regarding these evaluation opportunities at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose and the PECC Summit in Sunnyvale throughout October.
