US Marine Corps Taps Accrete for AI-Driven Cognitive Defense

The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded a sole-source contract to Accrete for its Argus for Cognitive Advantage platform, a specialized AI tool designed to counter foreign influence campaigns. By automating narrative tracking and video analysis, the technology aims to help analysts outpace adversaries operating in the digital information environment.

US Marine Corps Taps Accrete for AI-Driven Cognitive Defense

Modern warfare increasingly unfolds below the threshold of traditional combat, where foreign actors deploy synthetic media and coordinated narratives to sway public perception. Accrete’s platform functions as a knowledge engine that processes open-source intelligence from social media, broadcast outlets, and messaging apps to identify these patterns. The system’s video analysis capabilities are particularly critical, as they compress hours of raw footage into actionable evidence by transcribing, translating, and object-tagging content in real time across 243 languages.

Beyond simple monitoring, the software includes predictive simulation tools that allow analysts to test how specific audiences might react to information before it is released. The contract builds on a history of collaboration between the tech firm and the Department of Defense, following earlier deployments with the Army and an AFWERX STRATFI award in 2025. Bill Wall, CEO of Accrete AI Government, noted that the move signals the Marine Corps’ commitment to treating cognitive superiority as a core warfighting requirement rather than a peripheral support function. Every inference generated by the system remains traceable to its original source, ensuring the data meets strict auditing and accreditation standards for high-stakes military use.
