Ashley Robinson Tapped to Lead Texas Southern Athletics

Robinson, who previously served as director of athletics at Prairie View A&M from 2013 to 2019, brings a extensive track record to his new role. During his time at Jackson State, he oversaw 19 championships and facilitated significant national media exposure, including features on 60 Minutes and ESPN’s College GameDay.

Beyond the field, Robinson has emphasized student-athlete performance in the classroom. His tenure at Jackson State saw the department achieve a 3.101 GPA in the fall of 2022, while his earlier work at Prairie View A&M resulted in all 18 athletics teams exceeding NCAA-mandated benchmarks. Robinson, a former standout point guard at Mississippi Valley State, intends to focus on elevating the experience of Texas Southern athletes, ensuring they compete at the highest level while remaining on track to earn their degrees.
