Bank of America and PNC Lead Digital Mortgage Experience Rankings

The annual benchmark highlights a tightening race where speed is the primary differentiator. As consumer expectations for on-demand services shift toward the home lending sector, lenders are increasingly deploying automated tools to accelerate closing and funding. The number of surveyed firms offering accelerated home equity options has doubled in the past year, with many non-bank lenders now providing approval in minutes and funding within a week. These digital workflows often replace traditional appraisals with asset valuation modeling and leverage e-signatures and remote online notaries to remove friction.

Beyond speed, institutions are focusing on total relationship value by integrating existing depository and investment data into the application process. Approximately 42% of lenders now offer cross-product incentives, such as rate discounts or fee credits, to encourage mortgage holders to consolidate their financial activities. To demystify the inherently complex lending process, firms are also shifting toward visual education. Currently, 60% of evaluated lenders use video content to explain mortgage steps, while firms like Chase and U.S. Bank utilize multimedia resources to guide borrowers through financial hardship and foreclosure prevention. PNC stands out for its extensive suite of calculators, which help users model scenarios ranging from debt consolidation to the long-term impact of paying points.
