By sealing waste wood in engineered underground chambers, Carbonsate prevents decomposition and atmospheric release, offering a cost-effective alternative to direct air capture.
Senken CEO Adrian Wons noted that corporate net-zero targets are rapidly exhausting verified capacity, making long-term access critical for European buyers. For Carbonsate, the deal provides the financial stability required to scale its African storage sites. Each site utilizes a proprietary monitoring and verification system, ensuring the carbon remains locked away for centuries while meeting the stringent requirements of the Puro.earth standard.
