FDA Grants Fast Track Status to Phanes Therapeutics’ Spevatamig

Spevatamig functions as an innate immunity enhancer, a new class of immuno-oncology agents designed to activate macrophages and dendritic cells to target tumor cells. This mechanism aims to improve outcomes in "cold tumors" that typically show limited response to standard immune checkpoint inhibitors. The latest designation adds to the molecule's growing regulatory profile, which includes Fast Track status for metastatic claudin 18.2-positive pancreatic adenocarcinoma and orphan drug designation for pancreatic cancer.

Phanes is currently scaling its clinical efforts, notably through an expanded collaboration with Merck to test spevatamig alongside pembrolizumab for frontline biliary tract cancer treatment. CEO Ming Wang noted that the company is actively advancing Phase 2 studies for the molecule across multiple indications. As a first-in-class native IgG-like bispecific antibody, the drug remains a central pillar in Phanes’ pipeline, which relies on the company's proprietary PACbody, SPECpair, and ATACCbody technology platforms.
